Glossary/Funding rate
Funding rate
A funding rate is a periodic payment between long and short holders of a perpetual futures contract, designed to keep the contract price aligned with a reference (often a spot index or mark). Positive funding typically means longs pay shorts; negative reverses the flow. Intervals and formulas are venue-specific.
